Devil Moon Wins Let's Elope Stakes

Monday, 10th September 2007

Widden Stud shuttler King Cugat (Kingmambo-Tricky Game, by Majestic Light) added a group success when 4YO mare Devil Moon (King Cugat-Classy Babe, by Masterclass) scored a 1.5-lengths victory in the $200,000 Gr3 Let's Elope Stakes (1400m) for mares 4YO & up at Flemington. Despite starting from the extreme outside barrier, front-running Devil Moon (ridden by Michael Rodd for trainer Mark Kavanagh) defeated fellow 4YO mare Eskimo Queen (Shinko King-Cold Type, by Icelandic) & 5YO mare Bellini Rose (Faltaat-Raise The Play, by Defensive Play). Devil Moon now has 6 wins (also including April's Listed Port Adelaide Guineas over 1812m at Cheltenham, plus both March's Gr3 Auraria Stakes over 1800m at Morphettville & Listed Nitschke Stakes over 1460m at Cheltenham) & 3 placings (including April's Gr1 SAJC Schweppes Oaks over 2000m at Morphettville & February's Listed Irongate Classic over 1100m at Morphettville) from 14 starts for $409,750 earnings.
