French Deputy Adds Japan Gr2

Monday, 10th September 2007

In Japan yesterday, former Arrowfield Stud shuttler & Japan's 2004 Champion 1st Season Sire French Deputy (Deputy Minister-Mitterand, by Hold Your Peace) added a group success when 5YO mare Sans Adieu (French Deputy-Sheriyza, by Caerleon) broke the track record in blitzing her 17 rivals by 5-lengths in the Gr2 Centaur Stakes (1200m) at Hanshin in Osaka. Shimokobe Farm-bred Sans Adieu (ridden by Yuga Kawada for trainer Hidetaka Otonashi) defeated 3YO filly Kanoya Zakura (Sakura Bakushin O-Woodmans Chic, by Woodman) & Australian-bred 4YO Kinshasa No Kiseki (Fuji Kiseki-Keltshaan, by Pleasant Colony). Earlier this season Sans Adieu also won July's Gr3 Ibis Summer Dash (1000m) at Niigata. This race was also the 5th leg of the 2007 Global Sprint Challenge (currently headed by Australia's Miss Andretti, who won the initial 3 legs: the Gr1 Coolmore Lighting Stakes over 1000m & Gr1 Timbercorp Australia Stakes over 1200m, plus the UK Gr2 King's Stand Stakes over 5 furlongs at Royal Ascot).
