Monday, 10th September 2007

This season's Gr1 Prix du Jockey Club-French Derby winning 3YO colt Lawman (Invincible Spirit-Laramie, by Gulch) has been retired from racing & will stand at Ballylinch Stud in County Kilkenny in Ireland. Lawman (a half-brother to both Gr1 Prix de Diane winner Latice & last season's Gr1 runner-up Satri) was a €75,000 (A$120,000) yearling at the 2005 Deauville August Sale; he won on debut over 1600m at Saint-Cloud last November & added the Gr3 Prix De Guiche (1800m) at Chantilly in May, before taking the Gr1 Prix du Jockey Club (2100m) at Chantilly in June & then adding a further victory in the Gr1 Prix Jean Prat (1600m) at Chantilly in July. However he then finished 6th in the Gr1 Prix du Haras de Fresnay (Jacques le Marois) in his only subsequent start & was subsequently found to be suffering from a liver ailment (from which he is now recovered). Overall he retires with 4 wins from 7 starts.
