Monday, 10th September 2007

NZ Grangewilliam Stud sire Brilliance (Thunder Gulch-La Gueriere, by Lord At War) recorded his 1st stakes-winner when gelded son Fritzy Boy (Brilliance-Fritzy Girl, by Cache Of Gold) scored a 1-length victory in the NZ$60,000 Listed Wanganui Guineas (1320m) for 3YOs at Wanganui. Fritzy Boy (ridden by Paul Taylor for trainer Alby MacGregor) defeated Australian-bred gelding Plan Ex (Planchet-Murex, by Quest For Fame) & fellow gelding Go Danny (Diamond Dane-Go Polly, by Krasnopolski). Fritzy Boy now has 2 wins from 2 starts. A week earlier he became his sire Brilliance's 1st winner (from just his 2nd runner) when scoring on debut over 1200m at Foxton. Brilliance (a US$1.1 million yearling at Keeneland) boasts 4 of his 1st 5 dams as Gr1-winners; among them Brilliance's 3rd dam Priceless Gem (a Gr1-winner as both a 2YO & 3YO) is the dam of Noble Bijou: 4 times NZ's Champion sire & 4 times NZ's Champion Broodmare sire.
