Tuesday, 11th September 2007

Also in the US, fellow Coolmore shuttler Royal Academy (Nijinsky-Crimson Saint, by Crimson Satan) added a US black-type success when 4YO mare Oprah Winney (Royal Academy-Mere Presence, by Woodman) scored a 3.25-lengths victory in the US$104,000 Listed Schenectady Handicap (6 furlongs) for fillies & mares at Belmont Park. Oprah Winney (ridden by Garrett Gomez for trainer Richard Dutrow) defeated Scatkey (Scatmandu-Sugarkey, by Missionary Ridge) & Karakorum Starlet (Skip Away-Amaryllis, by Cormorant). At her previous start Oprah Winney also won last month's Listed Regret Stakes (6 furlongs) at Monmouth Park & earlier this season she won January's Listed Interborough Handicap (6 furlongs) at Aqueduct & February's Gr2 Barbara Frtichie Handicap (7 furlongs) at Laurel Park, before finishing 3rd in March's Gr2 Distaff Breeders' Cup Handicap (6 furlongs) at Aqueduct; & in previous years she won both 2006's Listed Bouwerie Stakes (7 furlongs) at Belmont Park & 2005's Listed Randaroo Stakes (6 furlongs) at Aqueduct.
