Wednesday, 12th September 2007

Meanwhile NSW Department Of Primary Industries chief veterinary officer Bruce Christie emphasised "over 200 personnel are working throughout the state as part of on-going efforts to manage the equine influenza outbreak. While we expect the number of positive tests to continue to rise in coming days, the comprehensive tracing systems we have in place allow us to accurately monitor & anticipate where the spread will go & establish restricted areas quickly." More than 4,600 horses on 410 properties across NSW have now contracted horse flu since it was first confirmed on August 25.
