Kentucky Yearlings Day-2: Average Down 20.4%

Thursday, 13th September 2007

Meanwhile when Day-2 finished at Keeneland, 166 yearlings had sold for US$77,982,000 (down 17.9% on last year's 161 sold for US$94,960,000) at an average US$469,771 (down 20.4% on last year's US$589,814). However the US$332,500 median was up 10.8% (last year US$300,000). Keeneland director of sales Geoffrey Russell told thoroughbredtimes.com: "The top is down. We had more millionaires for the session & more individual buyers, so there are positive signs. But we lacked the fireworks at the top." (On Day-2 last year the top price was US$11.7 million, compared to US$3.7 million this year.)
