NY Senator Says Spitzer Plan Will Not Be Approved

Amid dramatic headlines in New York, the state's top Republican lawmaker & Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno declared the plan by Governor Eliot Spitzer to "give another exclusive racing franchise to the NY Racing Association will not be approved by the legislature in its current form," reported bloodhorse.com. Bruno "vowed a lot of changes" will be made to Spitzer's proposal to give a 30-year franchise to NYRA (to run racing at Aqueduct, Belmont Park & Saratoga) & summed up bluntly: "I can tell you now that what the governor submitted is not going to be the final product."
