UK Yearlings Day-1: $130k Tagula Colt

Friday, 14th September 2007

In the UK, bloodstock agent Peter Doyle out-bid Bobby O'Ryan & paid the equal top price of 50,000 guineas (A$130,000) for a Tagula colt (out of Pursuit Of Love mare Be My Lover) during the opening session at Doncaster Bloodstock's inaugural 2-day St Leger Festival Yearling Sale in South Yorkshire. The colt (consigned from Liam Cashman's County-Cork-based Rathbarry Stud in Ireland as agent) is a full-brother to current 2YO Tuanku (winner of his last 2 starts for Mick Channon) & cost €17,000 (A$27,000) as a foal at the Goffs November Sale. Doyle told racingpost.co.uk: "I have bought him for a specific client, although I can't say who at the moment, & thought he was a grand sort of horse. We've done well over the years buying Tagulas, including Imperial Mint (a winning 2YO this season)."
