Friday, 14th September 2007

And overnight during the 2nd session at the inaugural Doncaster Bloodstock St Leger Festival Yearling Sale, train Bryan Smart (bidding for a new owner to his Hambleton Lodge stable) out-bid agent David Minton & paid equal top price of 32,000 guineas (A$83,000) for a colt by NZ Rich Hill Stud's Darley shuttler Bertolini (out of Dowsing mare Pewter Lass) consigned from Robert Chugg's Little Lodge Farm. Smart told racingpost.co.uk: "I loved him: he was a very racy colt & reminded me a lot of Moorhouse Lad (also trained by Smart). I was just delighted to get him."
