El Segundo Wins Dato Tan Chin Nan Stakes

The 6YO gelding El Segundo (Pins-Palos Verdes, by Oak Ridge) snatched victory by a nose in the $300,000 weight-for-age Gr2 Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley. El Segundo (ridden by Luke Nolan for trainer Colin Little) defeated 4YO entire Haradasun (Fusaichi Pegasus-Circles Of Gold, by Marscay) & 6YO mare Cinque Cento (Nothin' Leica Dane-Laydown Misere, by Varick). El Segundo (a NZ$140,000 yearling at the 2003 NZ Bloodstock Premier Sale at Karaka) now has 11 wins (also including February's Gr1 Orr Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield & January's Gr2 Carlyon Stakes over 1200m at Moonee Valley, plus the 2006 Gr1 Underwood Stakes over 1800m & Gr2 Memsie Stakes over 1400m, as well as the 2005 Gr1 Yalumba Stakes over 2000m & Listed JRA Cup over 2040m) & 7 placings (including August's Listed Aurie's Star Handicap over 1200m & March's Gr1 Futurity Stakes over 1600m, plus 2006's Gr1 Cox Plate over 2040m & Gr1 Yalumba Stakes over 2000m) from 24 starts for $1,931,875 earnings.
