Monday, 17th September 2007

In the US, Lear's Princess (Lear Fan-Pretty City, by Carson City) scored a half-length victory in the US$250,000 Gr1 Gazelle Stakes (9 furlongs) for 3YO fillies at Belmont Park in New York. Lear's Princess (ridden by Eibar Coa for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin) defeated this season's Gr1 Belmont Stakes winner Rags To Riches (A.P.Indy-Better Than Honour, by Deputy Minister) in her return to the track after a 3-months break (due to minor setbacks) & Gr2-winner Tough Tiz's Sis (Tiznow-Leaseholder, by Taylor's Falls). Previously this season Lear's Princess finished runner-up in both July's Gr1 Coaching Club American Oaks (10 furlongs) at Belmont Park & August's Gr1 Alabama Stakes (10 furlongs) at Saratoga. Overall Kentucky-bred Lear's Princess now has 4 wins (also including the Tweedside Stakes at Belmont Park on July 1) & 2 runner-ups from 6 starts for US$429,100 earnings.
