Mrs Lindsay Wins French Gr1 Prix Vermeille

Monday, 17th September 2007

In France overnight, 3YO filly Mrs Lindsay (Theatrical-Vole Vole Monamour, by Woodman) scored an upset 0.75-lengths victory in the €300,000 (A$480,000) Gr1 Prix Vermeille (2400m) for fillies & mares at Longchamp in Paris. In a clean-sweep for the younger runners against their older rivals, Mrs Lindsay (ridden by Johnny Murtagh for trainer Francois Rouhaut) defeated Sheikh Mohammed's fast-finishing Gr1-winning 3YO filly West Wind (Machiavellian-Red Slippers, by Nureyev) & Khalid Abdullah's fellow Gr1-winning 3YO filly Passage Of Time (Dansili-Clepsydra, by Sadler's Wells). In June Mrs Lindsay had finished a gallant runner-up in France's Gr1 Prix de Diane Hermes-French Oaks (2100m) at Chantilly, after winning a Gr3 over 2100m at Saint-Cloud in April.
