New Approach Wins Irish Gr1 National Stakes

Monday, 17th September 2007

Also in Ireland overnight, Coolmore shuttler Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) added a juvenile Gr1 triumph when unbeaten colt New Approach (Galileo-Park Express, by Ahonoora) scored a 1.75-lengths victory in the €300,000 (A$480,000) Gr1 National Stakes (7 furlongs) for 2YOs at The Curragh. New Approach (ridden by Kevin Manning for trainer Jim Bolger) defeated Godolphin's colt Rio De La Plata (Rahy-Express Way, by Ahmad) & previously unbeaten Gr1-winning colt Myboycharlie (Danetime-Dulceata, by Rousillon). New Approach now has 4 wins from 4 starts: he previously won both August's Gr2 Futurity Stakes (7 furlongs) at The Curragh & July's Gr3 Tyros Stakes (7 furlongs) at Leopardstown. New Approach was a €430,000 euros (A$688,000) yearling at the 2006 Goffs Million Sale; his Gr1-winning dam Park Express has also produced Gr3-winner Dazzling Park & Japanese stakes-winning former Glenlogan Park shuttler Shinko Forest. A fortnight ago Sheikh Mohammed's Darley Stud bought a 50% stake in New Approach as a future sire prospect.
