NZ Gr1 Star Donna Rosita Heads To Perfectly Ready

Monday, 17th September 2007

NZ's Gr1-winning 5YO mare Donna Rosita (Woodborough-Nippoh Madonna, by Pompeii Court) "will visit Brighthill Farm's exciting new Gr1-winning Australian-bred sire Perfectly Ready (More Than Ready-Elle Duccio, by Danehill) this season at the completion of her final racing campaign," reported NZ Thoroughbred Marketing. Donna Rosita (who hasn't raced since winning NZ's Gr1 Railway Handicap at Ellerslie on January 1) had originally been booked to fly to Sydney last month for an Australian campaign & & then head to the NSW Hunter Valley to be served at Arrowfield Stud, before returning to Rosehill trainer Chris Waller for a spring campaign. However trainer Piri Raunui confirmed she will now "remain in NZ this season & step-out tomorrow at Ruakaka in the Whangarei Sprint (1200m), before heading towards either the Listed Kelt Memorial (1400m) at Hastings on October 6 or Gr3 Hawkeye @ Stoney Bridge Stakes (1400m) at Hawera on October 13". Perfectly Ready (the 1st son of Vinery Stud shuttler More Than Ready to stand at stud in NZ) commenced duties at Brighthill Farm this season for NZ$12,000+GST. Perfectly Ready retired with 4 wins from 1000-1400m (including the 2006 Gr1 Goodwood Handicap over 1200m at Morphettville & Gr3 Harolds 101 Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield, plus the 2005 Gr3 Blue Diamond Prelude) & 4 placings (including the 2006 Gr1 Manikato Stakes, Gr3 Bobbie Lewis Quality & Listed Concept Sports Stakes, plus the 2005 Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes) from 15 starts for earnings of A$685,650.
