Red Ransom Adds Japan Black-Type

Monday, 17th September 2007

In Japan yesterday, Vinery Stud shuttler Red Ransom (Roberto-Arabia, by Damascus) added a black-type success when star NZ-bred colt Roc De Cambes (Red Ransom-Fairy Lights, by Fairy King) scored a 1.25-lengths victory in the Listed Radio Nippon Sho St Lite Kinen (2200m on turf) for 3YOs at Nakayama. Roc De Cambes (ridden by Y.Shibayama for trainer N.Hori) defeated Golden Dahlia (Fuji Kiseki-Nice Tres Bien, by Northern Taste) & Screen Hero (Grass Wonder-Running Heroine, by Sunday Silence). Roc De Cambes was a $130,000 yearling consigned by New Zealand's The Oaks Stud at the 2006 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney (& purchased by Katsumi Yoshida of Japan's Northern Farm, who landed the quinella in last year's Gr1 Melbourne Cup with Delta Blues & Pop Rock). Earlier this season Roc De Cambes won Japan's Gr3 Radio Nikkei (1800m) at Fukushima (after also winning his initial 2 starts: over 1800m on debut at Hanshin in March & over 2000m in the Macau Jockey Club Trophy at Chukyo on June).
