Second Empire Adds UK Black-Type

Former Heytesbury Stud shuttler Second Empire (Fairy King-Welsh love, by Ela-Mama-Mou) added a UK black-type success when 5YO gelding Beckermet (Second Empire-Razida, by Last Tycoon) scored a 1-length victory in the £28,000 (A$67,000) Listed Starlit Stakes (6 furlongs) at Goodwood. Beckermet (ridden by C.Catlin for trainer R.Fisher) defeated 5YO entire Galeota (Mujadil-Refined, by Statoblest) & 4YO entire Grantley Adams (Dansili-Noble Peregrine, by Lomond). Last month Beckermet also won the UK Listed Hopeful Stakes (6 furlongs) at Newmarket; & last season he finished runner-up in the UK Listed Queensferry Stakes (6 furlongs) at Chester.
