Tale Of The Cat Adds US Gr2

Monday, 17th September 2007

Coolmore shuttler Tale Of The Cat (Storm Cat-Yarn, by Mr Prospector) added a US juvenile group success when Charles Fipke's home-bred colt Tale Of Ekati (Tale Of The Cat-Silence Beauty, by Sunday Silence) "hit the gate at the start & was last in the early stages", before "overcoming a troubled trip" in the straight to score a 1-length victory in the US$250,000 Gr2 Futurity Stakes (7 furlongs) for 2YOs at Belmont Park, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Tale Of Ekati (ridden by Eibar Coa for trainer Barclay Tagg) defeated previously unbeaten fellow colt & 4-time-winning favourite Kodiak Kowboy (Posse-Kokadrie, by Coronado's Quest) & front-running colt Mythical Pegasus (Fusaichi Pegasus-Lilly Capote, by Capote). At his previous start Tale Of Ekati finished 2nd in July's Gr2 Sanford Stakes (6 furlongs) at Saratoga & overall now has 2 wins & a runner-up from 3 starts for US$211,200 earnings.
