Injury Forces Universal Queen Retirement

Gr1-winning 4YO mare Universal Queen (Scenic-Biscay Bird, by Bluebird) has been forced into early retirement after suffering a bowed tendon to her off-foreleg during the weekend's Gr1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley in Melbourne. Universal Queen (a full-sister to 4-time Gr1-winning Baerami Thoroughbreds stalllion Universal Prince) retires with 5 wins (including the Gr1 Robert Sangster Stakes over 1200m, Gr2 SAJC Yallambee Stakes over 1200m, Gr3 The Vanity over 1200m & Gr3 Sweet Embrace Stakes over 1200m) & 3 placings (including the Gr3 Cockram Stakes over 1200m) from 15 starts for $595,150 earnings.
