Kentucky Yearlings Day-6: US$440k Lion Heart Colt

Tuesday, 18th September 2007

Meanwhile Mayberry Farm paid the Day-6 top price of US$440,000 for a colt by freshman sire Lion Heart (the 2nd foal out of Capote mare Whattacapote) at the 15-day Keeneland September Yearling Sale in Kentucky. The colt (whose dam Whattacapote is a half-sister to 3 stakes-winners) was consigned by Sue Vacek as agent. Keeneland director of sales Geoffrey Russell summed up the session: "Today was another strong day. There is a very good feel to the market: it's exciting. There was a strong presence of both domestic & international buyers, particularly from Argentina, Brazil & Mexico."
