Queally Retainer To Ride In Germany

Wednesday, 19th September 2007

Also in Europe, former champion Irish apprentice Tom Queally "reached a gentleman's agreement" with Germany's leading owner Baron Georg von Ullman to ride in Germany next season "as retained jockey for the Von Ullmann family & trainer Jens Hirschberger", reported racingpost.co.uk. Queally, 22, explained: "I will be going over to Germany to ride for the Von Ullman family at weekends & for the big mid-week meetings. However I will remain based in Newmarket & continue riding for those trainers I already have connections with. This is a marvellous opportunity for me." Queally has ridden 55 winners so far in Britain this season (including 15 for Lincolnshire-based trainer James Given & 4 for trainer Barney Curley).
