Kentucky Yearlings Cumulative Median Up 11.1%

Thursday, 20th September 2007

Day-8 at Keeneland saw both the average & gross finish above last year's figures for the 6th straight session. Keeneland director of sales Geoffrey Russell told thoroughbredtimes.com: "The sale continues along very successfully. Today we began to see the change over in buyers. But it is still very well attended by buyers, both participating & looking for tomorrow. This year's sale is probably more impressive than last year's sale: everyone is concentrating on the top end of the market, but the middle is phenomenal. This is day-8 & buyers are still very enthusiastic to purchase a top-quality horse." Cumulatively over the initial 8 days at Keeneland 1,983 yearlings have now sold for US$340,060,600 (down 6.9% on last year's 2,023 sold for US$365,071,000 to this point). The cumulative US$171,488 average is down 4.9% (last year US$180,460); however the US$100,000 cumulative median is up 11.1% (last year US$90,000).
