Rock Of Gibraltar To Ireland Not Japan After Aust Season
Fellow Coolmore shuttler & 7-time Gr1-winner Rock Of Gibraltar (currently locked in quarantine at Sydney's Eastern Creek) will return to Ireland after this year's Australian breeding season, rather than spend another northern hemisphere season in Japan, reported racingpost.co,uk. Rock Of Gibraltar spent the 2007 northern season at Shizunai Stallion Station on Hokkaido "under a lease agreement with the Japan Bloodhorse Breeders' Association". Coolmore spokesman Michael Knightly confirmed overnight: "The intention is for him to go to Coolmore Australia first, as planned." Rock Of Gibraltar's 1st-crop 3YOs "have propelled him into the top-10 rankings of Flat sires in Britain & Ireland. The 8YO stallion covered 147 mares in Japan this year.
