Zabeel Book Extended To Cover Stravinsky Loss

Friday, 21st September 2007

In New Zealand, Cambridge Stud principal Sir Patrick Hogan announced he has reversed a plan to cap multiple champion sire Zabeel's book at 110 this season. Due to the equine influenza-forced delay of Cambridge's Coolmore-owned shuttler Stravinsky in Australia (he will return to Cambridge in 2008), Hogan confirmed yesterday: "We closed off Zabeel's book at 110 because he is getting on a bit now; but with Stravinsky not coming, I opened it up again to take another 15. So he will cover 125 mares this year." Hogan also noted 5 of the initial 6 mares covered by Zabeel this season are already confirmed in-foal.
