Monday, 24th September 2007

Coolmore sire Encosta de Lago (Fairy King-Shoal Creek, by Star Way) added a black-type success (& 46th stakes-winner) when 6YO gelding Douro Valley (Encosta De Lago-Opaque, by Lord Seymour) snatched victory by a half-neck in the $100,000 Listed Naturalism Stakes (2000m) at Caulfield. Douro Valley (ridden by Darren Beadman for trainer Danny O'Brien) defeated the 5YO geldings Maldivian (Zabeel-Shynzi, by Danzig) & Dolphin Jo (Dolphin Street-High Rent, by Belligerent). Douro Valley now has 7 wins & 12 placings (including March's Listed Chubb Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield & 2006's G3 Eclipse Stakes over 1800m at Sandown) from 36 starts for $379,091 earnings.
