Moss Vale Heading To Ireland's Rathbarry Stud

Monday, 24th September 2007

Last season's triple Group-winning 6YO sprinter Moss Vale (Shinko Forest-Wolf Cleugh, by Last Tycoon) "will retire after running in next month's French Gr1 Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp & join next year's stallion roster at Ireland's Rathbarry Stud in County Cork," reported thoroughbredinternet.com. In 2005 Moss Vale won the UK Listed Starlit Stakes (6 furlongs) at Goodwood & was then sold (as a triple Listed winner & 6-time-placed in Gr2 & Gr3 events) to Irish bloodstock agent Bobby O'Ryan for 260,000 guineas (A$676,000) at the Tattersalls October Sale. In 2006 he won France's Gr2 Prix Du Gros-Chene (1000m) at Chantilly & both Ireland's Gr3 Greenlands Stakes (6 furlongs) at The Curragh & Gr3 Phoenix Sprint Stakes (6 furlongs) also at The Curragh, before ending the season running 3rd in France's Gr1 Prix de l'Abbaye (1000m) at Longchamp. This year he has added placings in Ireland's Gr3 Greenlands Stakes (6 furlongs) at the Curragh in May & then in both this month's Gr3 Flying Five (5 furlongs) at The Curragh & Gr3 Renaissance Stakes (6 furlongs) at The Curragh.
