Royal Academy Adds US Black-Type

Coolmore shuttler Royal Academy (Nijinsky-Crimson Saint, by Crimson Satan) added a US black-type success when 4YO mare Quiet Royal (Royal Academy-Wakigoer, by Miswaki) scored a 0.75-length victory in the US$100,000 Listed Kentucky Cup Ladies Turf Stakes (8 furlongs on turf) for fillies & mares at Kentucky Downs. Quiet Royal (ridden by Chris DeCarlo for trainer Todd Pletcher) defeated Rich Fantasy (Richter Scale-Fantasy Of Caro, by Caros Love) & Camela Carson (Lord Carson-Gamelah, by Vice Regent). Earlier this year Quiet Royal won June's US Listed Reluctant Guest Stakes (8 furlongs on turf) at Arlington Park in Chicago. Previously she won France's 2005 Gr3 Prix Miesque (1400m) at Maisons-Laffitte & finished runner-up in the Gr1 Prix Marcel Boussac (1600m) at Longchamp; & last year she finished runner-up in France's Gr3 Prix De La Grotte (1600m) at Longchamp before running 3rd in October's US Gr1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes (9 furlongs) at Keeneland.
