1st Strada Mares Test In-Foal

Tuesday, 25th September 2007

In the NSW Hunter Valley, Widden Stud principal Antony Thompson reported young stakes-winning stallion Strada (Danehill-Shindig, by Straight Strike) has tested his initial 4 mares in-foal. Thompson noted: "He has covered 24 mares so far & has proven to be a terrific horse in regards to covering & libido. He seems to be a real natural & as such we are increasing his book size & will be able to accept more mares, which might be helpful to breeders looking for alternatives with a number of shuttle stallions unavailable & many other popular horses booked solid." The mares tested in-foal are Denver Night, Fluffie's Reef, Najwa (a full sister to Gr2-winner Courvoisier & a $110,000 purchase at the 2007 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale) & Sequin (a Green Desert mare & $115,000 purchase at the 2007 Inglis Broodmare Sale). Strada (himself a $750,000 yearling at the 2004 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) is standing this season at Widden for $13,200.
