Hips Don't Lie Wins Talindert Stakes
NZ Cambridge Stud's Coolmore shuttler Stravinsky (Nureyev-Fire The Groom, by Blushing Groom) added a juvenile black-type success when unbeaten daughter Hips Don't Lie (Stravinsky-Procure, by Centaine) returned from a 12-weeks spell to make it 3 successive wins with a short-halfhead victory over the males in the $100,000 Listed Talindert Stakes (1100m) for 2YOs at Flemington. Favourite Hips Don't Lie (ridden by Craig Williams for trainer David Hayes) defeated debutante fellow filly Okaylah (Flying Spur-Cool Chick, by Centaine) & previously unbeaten colt Apprehend (Hold That Tiger-Regal Touch, by Touching Wood). Hips Don't Lie (a NZ$200,000 yearling consigned by Trelawney Stud & purchased by James Bester at the 2007 NZ Bloodstock Premier Sale at Karaka) has now earned $138,250 from her 3 wins (which also include November's Listed Herald-Sun Sprint over 1000m at Flemington).
