Spring At Last Wins US Gr1 Donn Handicap
On the US track, WinStar Farm's 5YO entire Spring At Last (Silver Deputy-Winter's Gone, by Dynaformer) scored a half-length victory in the US$500,000 Gr1 Donn Handicap (9 furlongs) for 4YOs & up at Gulfstream Park in Florida. Spring at Last (ridden by Eibar Coa for trainer Doug O'Neill) defeated fast-finishing Gr2-winning 6YO entire A.P.Arrow (A.P.Indy-Garimpeiro, by Mr Prospector) & fellow 5YO entire Kiss The Kid (Lemon Drop Kid-Black Tie Kiss, by Danzig). At his previous start, Kentucky-bred Spring At Last returned from a 9-months spell (following victory in the UAE Gr2 Godolphin Mile) to win 1st-up over 8 furlongs on turf at Santa Anita on December 26; overall Spring At Last (a US$675,000 purchase as a 3YO at the 2006 Keeneland November breeding stock sale) now has 5 wins (plus runner-up in the Gr1 Malibu Stakes & Gr2 Strub Stakes) from 12 starts for US$1,137,650 earnings. His dam Winter's Gone has also produced Gr1-winner Sharp Lisa & Gr2-winner Sharp Susan.
