Florida 2YOs: US$500k Johannesburg Filly
Irish bloodstock agent John McCormack (acting for a client from the Middle East whom he declined to identify) paid US$500,000 for a filly by Coolmore shuttler Johannesburg (out of unraced 6YO Boundary mare Border Dispute) consigned by Ciaran Dunne's Wavertree Stables (as agent for Second Wind Racing's chief executive Alan Pesch, who previously purchased her for US$150,000 at the 2007 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July Select Yearling Auction). The filly (already named Mythical Border) worked 1 furlong in 10sec during the pre-sale breeze-ups & is "from the family of Canadian Horse-Of-The-Year & North American champion Fanfreluche (dam of 2-time Canadian Horse-Of-The-Year L'Enjoleur & Canadian champions La Voyageuse & Medaille d'Or)" noted bloodhorse.com. It is the immediate family of Flying Spur & Encosta de Lago. McCormack said she will race on turf in England & told thoroughbredtimes.com: "We're hoping she's up for the task of running in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot. She looks very sharp, she looks very early & she's by a champion 2YO."
