Florida 2YOs: US$520k Silver Deputy Filly

Thursday, 14th February 2008

New Jersey bloodstock agent Buzz Chace (bidding for West Point Thoroughbreds & John Williams) out-bid trainer Steve Klesaris (acting for Jeff Puglisi) & paid top price of US$520,000 for a Silver Deputy filly (out of 10-year-old stakes-winning Ghazi mare Daisy Dukes) at the Ocala Breeders' Sales Co February Select Sale of 2YOs-In-Training in Florida. The Kentucky-bred filly (consigned by Eisaman Equine) is a half-sister to Japanese stakes-winner Surplus Singer. She "was 1 of 14 horses who worked 1 furlong in a bullet 10sec at the February 3 under-tack show, but she separated herself from some of the others with a smooth, long stride & quick gallop out time," noted thoroughbredtimes.com. West Point president Terry Finley commented: "She's just a beautiful filly. She has a great presence about her & we loved the way she carried herself all week. We didn't expect to give that much, but we've got a few more bullets in the holster: by the end of the season we'll have some that we'll buy at a discount & others that we'll pay a premium for. Her workout was just beautiful. She had a stride on her that was amazing."
