Irish Yearlings: $328k Galileo Colt
Meanwhile in the Irish auction ring, BBA Ireland agent Eamon Reilly out-bid fellow agent David Powell & paid the Day-2 top price of €205,000 (A$328,000) for a yearling colt by former Coolmore shuttler & Gr1 English Derby winner Galileo (out of Irish River mare River Fairy) during the 2nd session at the 4-day Goffs February Sale (a day of yearlings, following a low-key opening session devoted to cheap older horses & 2YOs). The colt (the only Galileo yearling in the sale) was consigned from Rangefield Bloodstock & Reilly told racingpost.co.uk: "He is a very nice foal. He has been bought to race on behalf of (trainer) Jim Bolger & we all know what he has done with sons of Galileo through Teofilo & New Approach. There's not much more can be said about the sire either. This colt will go down to Jim's Redmonstown Stud, before eventually going into training at Coolcullen."
