March Music Show Latest Randwick Flashpoint
The Australian Jockey Club is "again in dispute with Randwick trainers over the staging of the Future Music show on March 1," reported racenet.com.au. The event (held at Randwick for the last 2 years) "has been expanded & will be held on the in-field, leaving trainers angered due to the lack of information they were given regarding the amount of work to be undertaken". Randwick Trainers Association president Anthony Cummings commented: "It was a very robust discussion. The event has been on before & not had much to do with us; they have done their thing & got on with it. There was never any expectation it would be any different this year. But as it turns out, it is a mini-World Youth Day & they want to take over much of the in-field. In the past they have stayed on the grandstand side of the track; but this year they want use of the training side. There was never any idea of the extent of it & that it would have the capacity to impact on racing & training here at Randwick."
