Reaan Wins Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes

Monday, 25th February 2008

Arrowfield Stud sire Hussonet (Mr Prospector-Sacahuista, by Raja Baba) added a juvenile Gr1 triumph when Sheik Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum's Shadwell Stud Australasia colt Reaan (Hussonet-Ribe, by Danehill) stormed down the middle of the track to snatch victory in a thrilling 3-way photo-finish to the $1 million Gr1 Arrowfield Stud Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) for 2YOs at Caulfield in Melbourne. Reaan was ridden by Dwayne Dunn to a remarkable 4th successive victory in this race for trainer David Hayes, who notched a similarly impressive 5th overall victory in the event including his 3rd successive quinella. Reann scored by a long-neck from fast-finishing fellow colt & winner's stable-mate All American (Red Ransom-Milva, by Strawberry Road) with a further long-head to equally fast-finishing filly Burgeis (Catbird-Grand Performance, by Palace Music). Reaan (a $375,000 yearling consigned by Arrowfield Stud at the 2007 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) now has 3 wins (also including last start's 5-lengths blitz of his rivals in the Listed Blue Diamond Preview Stakes (1000m) at Caulfield on January 26) & a runner-up (in November's Gr3 Maribyrnong Plate over 1000m at Flemington) from 4 starts for $740,950 earnings. (Click on the link for full race details from Group Race Results at AAP Racing.) Meanwhile his sire Hussonet has 23 yearlings catalogued for the upcoming Inglis Premier Sale in Melbourne, 27 for the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale & a yearling full-sister to Reann is catalogued for the Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney.
