Monday, 25th February 2008

Darley shuttler & former Gr1 Dubai World Cup winner Street Cry (Machiavellian-Helen Street, by Troy) notched his 1st Southern Hemisphere-bred stakes-winner when 2YO filly Sarthemare (Street Cry-City Liffey, by Citidancer) led all-the-way to score a boilover 0.75-length victory starting at 50-1 in yesterday's $200,000 Listed Black Opal Slipper (1200m) for 2YOs at Canberra. Sarthemare (ridden by Tye Angland for trainer Neville Layt) defeated fast-finishing gelding Typhoon Fury (Hurricane Sky-Kuri Bay, by Summer Squall) & previously unbeaten favoured fellow filly De Lightning Ridge (Tale Of The Cat-Nanny Maroon, by Alquoz). Sarthemare (a $12,000 yearling at the 2007 Inglis Classic Sale in Sydney) now has a win & a runner-up from 3 starts for $140,300 earnings.
