Valley Chief Wins NZ TRAC Stakes

Monday, 25th February 2008

Former glamour yearling & impeccably bred stallion Colombia (Zabeel-Eight Carat, by Pieces Of Eight) added a black-type success when 6YO gelding Valley Chief (Colombia-Dainty Lace, by Alvaro) scored by a long-head in the NZ$70,000 Listed TRAC Stakes (2000m) at Matamata. Valley Chief (ridden by Reese Jones for trainer Mark Brosnan) defeated 4YO gelding Resolution (Pentire-Amritsar Jet, by Jetball) & favoured front-running 5YO gelding Gallions Reach (Victory Dance-Dorinka, by Straight Strike). Valley Chief now has 12 wins (also including 2007's Gr2 Hawke's Bay Cup over 2200m at Hastings) & 7 placings from 40 starts.
