Zarita Wins Armanasco Stakes

Monday, 25th February 2008

NZ Rich Hill Thoroughbreds sire Pentire (Be My Guest-Gull Nook, by Mill Reef) added a group success when favoured daughter Zarita (Pentire-Gin Player, by Defensive Play) scored by 1-length in the $175,000 Gr2 Angus Armanasco Stakes (1600m) for 3YO fillies at Caulfield. Zarita (ridden by Greg Childs for trainer Pat Hyland) defeated Pleasantsundaygirl (Cape Cross-Thunder Nights, by Thunder Gulch) & fast-finishing El Daana (Redoute's Choice-Sunday Valentine, by Sunday Silence). Zarita (a NZ$195,000 yearling at the 2006 NZ Bloodstock Premier Sale at Karaka) now has 4 wins (also including November's Gr2 Wakeful Stakes over 2000m at Flemington) & 2 placings (including last start's Gr3 The Vanity over 1400m at Flemington on February 2) from 8 starts for $382,900 earnings.
