C'est La Guerre Wins Gr1 NZ Derby

Monday, 3rd March 2008

In New Zealand, former Ashwell Farm-based & now Paxton Park's Japanese Gr1-winning sire Shinko King (Fairy King-Rose Of Jericho, by Alleged) added a Gr1 triumph when gelded son C'est La Guerre (Shinko King-La Magnifique, by Kampala) came from back in the field to blitz his rivals by 4-lengths in the NZ$700,000 Gr1 Mercedes NZ Derby (2400) for 3YOs on a rain-affected track at Ellerslie in Auckland. C'est La Guerre (ridden by David Walker for trainer Kevin Myers) defeated fellow geldings Prince Kaapstad (Kaapstad-Brilliant Princess, by Spectrum) & Fritzy Boy (Brilliance-Fritzy Girl, by Cache Of Gold). C'est La Guerre (a NZ$16,000 yearling at the 2006 NZ Bloodstock Festival Sale at Karaka) now has 5 wins & 1 placing from 8 starts.
