El Cambio Wins Royal Sovereign Stakes

Monday, 3rd March 2008

Woodlands Stud sire Commands (Danehill-Cotehele House, by My Swanee) added a group success when gelded son El Cambio (Commands-Chaparra, by Canny Lad) scored by a short-head (& then survived a protest from the 2nd horse) in the $125,000 Gr2 Royal Sovereign Stakes (1200m) for 3YO colts & geldings at Randwick. Favourite El Cambio (ridden by Hugh Bowman for trainer Peter Snowden) defeated the colts Kingda Ka (Flying Spur-Fizzi Lizzi, by Royal Academy) & Solo Flyer (Belong To Me-Fly The Flag, by Sir Tristram). El Cambio now has 3 wins (also including 2007's Gr3 Run To The Rose over 1300m at Rosehill) & 3 runner-ups from 7 starts for $207,450 earnings.
