Portillo Wins Gimcrack Stakes

Vinery Stud shuttler Red Ransom (Roberto-Arabia, by Damascus) added a juvenile black-type success when daughter Portillo (Red Ransom-Snowdrift, by Polish Precedent) scored a 0.75-length victory in the $80,000 Listed Gimcrack Stakes (1100m) for 2YO fillies at Randwick. Portillo (ridden by Rod Quinn for trainer Peter Snowden) defeated previously unbeaten Rock Me Baby (Rock Of Gibraltar-Highest Cool, by Highest Honor) & debutante Glowlamp (Encosta de Lago-Push A Venture, by Shirley Heights). Portillo (an $850,000 yearling consigned by Tyreel Stud at the 2007 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) is a half-sister to Gr1-winner Snowland; overall she now has a win & a placing from 3 starts for $53,075 earnings.
