Takeover Target Confirmed For 3rd UK Trip

Monday, 3rd March 2008

Trainer Joe Janiak announced his multiple Gr1-winning 8YO gelded sprinter Takeover Target (Celtic Swing-Shady Stream, by Archregent) is returning to the UK for a 3rd successive year to tackle Royal Ascot & race in 3 legs of the 2008 Global Sprint Challenge. Following the decision by fellow trainer Greg Eurell not to take current Australian star sprinter Apache Cat to England, Janiak confirmed: "We've negotiated all the deals & it's all done now. The organisers in England pay the expenses for all of the Australian horses going there, but the star attraction gets the most & with Apache Cat out we'll get more money to go over." Takeover Target is currently being aimed at the Gr1 T.J.Smith Stakes (1200m) at Randwick in Sydney on April 26 & then the Gr1 All-Aged Stakes (1400m) at Randwick a week later, followed by the Gr1 Singapore International Sprint (1200m) on May 18 & then England for the Gr1 King's Stand Stakes (5 furlongs) at Royal Ascot on June 17, Gr1 Golden Jubilee (6 furlongs) at Royal Ascot on June 21 & finally the Gr1 Darley July Cup (6 furlongs) at Newmarket on July 11.
