Whisper Bay Wins Jockey Celebration Classic

Monday, 3rd March 2008

Coolmore shuttler Royal Academy (Nijinsky-Crimson Saint, by Crimson Satan) added a juvenile black-type success when daughter Whisper Bay (Royal Academy-Winds Of Peace, by Bletchingly) snatched victory over her male rivals in a 3-way photo-finish to the $100,000 Listed National Jockey Celebration Classic (1000m) for 2YOs at Caulfield. Whisper Bay (ridden by James Winks for trainer David Hayes) prevailed by a long-neck over debutant colt Grande Jardin (Redoute's Choice-Liberty Rose, by Royal Academy) with a further short-halfhead to previously unbeaten fellow filly & the winner's stable-mate Elusive Wonder (Elusive Quality-Abbotswood, by Sir Tristram). Whisper Bay (a $165,000 yearling consigned by Kitchwin Hills as agent at the 2007 Magic Millions Gold Coast sale) now has 2 wins & a runner-up from 4 starts for $126,750 earnings.
