Sunshine Coast Cushion Track Barrier Trials Next Week

Tuesday, 4th March 2008

Queensland Racing chairman Bob Bentley confirmed "everything is on track" for the 1st official barrier trials on the Sunshine Coast Cushion Track on Thursday March 13. Bentley noted: "The Cushion Track has received overwhelming support from Sunshine Coast stake-holders & it's exciting that all South-East corner stake-holders will now be in a position to access the Cushion Track for the 1st time. The barrier trials will be conducted over 1000m & 1400m and will provide a great opportunity for those horses being prepared for the opening meeting on Sunday April 6. The Cushion Track is an Industry asset & it's important that all stake-holders have access to it on a regular basis. As such, official barrier trials have been programmed every fortnight through to the end of May." Queensland Racing has also "taken the decision to subsidise floating costs for those trainers who do not utilise the Corbould Park facility. The floating rebates will apply for all official barrier trials conducted up to the end of May" & involve: $100-per-horse for travel of 50-100kms; & $150-per-horse for travel over 100kms. In addition Queensland Racing will also "waive the $50 official barrier trial fee for the initial 2 sets of trials on Thursday March 13 & Thursday March 27".
