Inglis Melb Yearlings Part 1 Average Up 25.7%

Part One (days 1-3) of the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale came to a record-breaking conclusion with 466 yearlings sold for $39,308,500: up a massive 56% on last year & with an 83.7% clearance rate. In addition, new records were established for both the average & median: the $84,353 average was up 25.7% & the $65,000 median was up 30%. Inglis managing director Mark Webster summed up: "These results are not only a ringing endorsement of the Melbourne Premier Sale as a source of high quality winners, but of Melbourne as a place to sell horses. The level of pre-sale interest has been matched by some frenetic action in the ring at all levels & it is particularly pleasing to have seen so many new faces at Oaklands Junction this week. Figures don't lie: with new records in all major categories & an 83.5% clearance rate on a Part One Session that was expanded to include an additional 98 lots on last year, the Premier Sale has been a stunning success."
