Racing & Tourism Unify To Launch NSW Autumn Carnival
Key stakeholders in the tourism & racing industries (NSW Government, Australian Jockey Club, Sydney Turf Club, Inglis, Racing NSW & Tabcorp) "united for the 1st time in NSW history" yesterday to "unveil a campaign promoting 50 days of the NSW Autumn Racing Carnival". And Events NSW chief executive Geoff Parmenter announced a $750,000 commitment to the campaign, which "paves the way forward for NSW racing following the equine influenza outbreak", highlights the "value of thoroughbred racing in the state" (a study commissioned by the Australian Racing Board last year estimated the economic value of racing in NSW alone is nearly $1.7 billion with more than 16,000 full-time equivalent jobs) & aims to "promote 50 glorious days of racing across 120 racedays in both regional & metropolitan areas".
