Singspiel Adds Dubai Gr3

Friday, 7th March 2008

Former Darley shuttler Singspiel (In The Wings-Glorious Song, by Halo) also added an overnight group success in Dubai when UK-bred 5YO mare Gower Song (Singspiel-Gleaming Water, by Kalaglow) burst through near the line to score a half-length victory in the US$200,000 Gr3 Dubai City of Gold (2400m on turf) at Nad Al Sheba. Gower Song (ridden by Richard Hills for trainer David Elsworth) defeated fast-finishing Irish-bred Mourilyan (Desert Prince-Mouramara, by Kahyasi) & South African-bred Oracle West (Western Winter-Noble Prophet, by Noble Ambition). Last November Gower Song won the UK Listed Gillies Fillies Stakes (10.5 furlongs) at Doncaster & in 2006 she notched placings in both the Listed John Musker Fillies' Stakes (10 furlongs) at Yarmouth & Listed Galtres Stakes (12 furlongs) at York. She is now being aimed at the Gr1 Dubai Sheema Classic on World Cup night.
