5 Aust-Breds Win In Singapore

In Singapore, 5 Australian-bred gallopers scored at Kranji:

  • 6YO gelding Capablanca (Scenic-Ahava, by Southern Appeal) returned from a 5-months spell to win the Open Class Sprint over 1100m (& set a new track record on the fibresand surface at 1min 3.7sec) for Australian trainer Don Baertschiger. During 2007 Capablanca (passed-in as a yearling for $50,000 at the 2003 Magic Millions Perth Premier Sale) finished 2nd in both Singapore's Gr1 Lion City Cup (1200m) & Gr3 Fischer Stakes (1200m) plus 3rd in the Gr3 Jumbo Jet Trophy (1400m); overall in 17 starts since beginning racing in Singapore in August 2006, Capablanca has notched 8 wins & 7 placings for prize-money approaching S$700,000 (A$560,000).
  • 4YO gelding Better Times (King Charlemagne-Full On Clubs) won over 1100m for trainer Brian Dean; Better Times was a $32,500 yearling at the 2005 Magic Millions Adelaide Sale.
  • 5YO gelding Master Of Triumph (Redding-Valout To Valour) won over 1800m for trainer Desmond Koh.
  • 6YO gelding Valiant Master (Real Quiet-Some Kinda Quick) won over 1600m for trainer Charles Leck; Valiant Master was a $6,000 yearling at the 2003 Inglis/Pitt, Son & Keene Scone Sale.
  • 5YO entire Kakurei (Rory's Jester-Fashiontyme) won over 1200m for trainer Desmond Koh; Kakurei was a $38,000 yearling at the 2004 Inglis Premier Sale in Melbourne.
