Belong To Me Adds UK Black-Type

Monday, 10th March 2008

On the UK track, former Widden Stud shuttler Belong To Me (Danzig-Belonging, by Exclusive Native) added a black-type success when 7YO gelding Jack Sullivan (Belong To Me-Provisions, by Devil's Bag) scored a 2.75-lengths victory in the £26,000 (A$57,000) Listed Lady Wulfruna Stakes (7 furlongs on the all-weather track) for 4YOs & up at Wolverhampton. Jack Sullivan (ridden by Jamie Spencer for trainer Gerard Butler) defeated Australian-bred 4YO gelding War Artist (Orpen-Royal Solitaire, by Brocco) & 4YO entire Lovelace (Royal Applause-Loveleaves, by Polar Falcon). In both 2005 & again in 2006 Jack Sullivan won the Dubai's Gr3 Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Challenge II (1800m) at Nad Al Sheba. Meanwhile Australian-bred runner-up War Artist (a $57,500 yearling consigned by Attunga Stud at the 2005 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale) was making his UK debut after notching 4 wins from 6 starts in South Africa (including victory in 2007's Gr1 Mercury Sprint against older rivals over 1200m at Clairwood, plus 3rd against older rivals in the Gr1 Golden Horse Sprint over 1200m at Scottsville).
