Jungle Pocket Adds Japan Gr3

Monday, 10th March 2008

In Japan yesterday, former NZ Rich Hill Stud shuttler (he stood at Australia's Hollylodge Thoroughbreds in 2007 due to the equine influenza crisis) & 2001 Japanese Horse-Of-The-Year Jungle Pocket (Tony Bin-Dance Charmer, Nureyev) added a group success when 4YO Tascata Sorte (Jungle Pocket-Brilliant Cut, by Northern Taste) snatched victory by a nose in a 3-way photo-finish to the Gr3 Sho Chukyo Kinen (2000m on turf) for 4YOs & up at Chukyo. Shadai Farm-bred Tascata Sorte (ridden by E.Nakadate for trainer H.Fujiwara) just pipped Senkaku (Marvelous Sunday-Seimei, by Exuberant) with a further nose to Wild Fire (Mejiro Ryan-Gorgeous Heart, by Nihon Pillow Winner). Last year Tascata Sorte also won Japan's Gr2 Kyoto Shimbun Hai (2200m on turf) at Kyoto.
